ETIHAD adds three new 787-9 Dreamliners as it eyes ambitious growth

Etihad Airways is celebrating the arrival of three new Boeing 787-9 aircraft this weekend. The national airline of the UAE welcomed the latest additions to its expanding fleet at Abu Dhabi Zayed International Airport.The new aircraft will begin operations this month, helping Etihad to expand in line with its ambitious roadmap which will see it fly to 125 destinations with more than 160 aircraft by 2030. Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive Officer, Etihad Airways, said: “We are thrilled to welcome these brand-new, state-of-the-art Boeing 787 Dreamliners to Abu Dhabi. Their arrival is key to our network expansion strategy and comes at the perfect time as we continue to add multiple new destinations and expand frequencies into key markets.“These new aircraft support our commitment to Abu Dhabi, allowing us to bring more guests to experience the incredible capital of the UAE, either as their end destination or on a stopover when connecting across our expanding network.”The 787-9s will further bolster Etihad’s fleet as it launches additional destinations over the coming months. Etihad will begin flying to Boston, its fourth US gateway, on 31 March, and will add Nairobi and Bali to the network as well as summer routes to Nice, Malaga, Mykonos and Santorini.The arrival of the three new Dreamliners follows the new Boeing 787-10 received in October 2023, which added further capacity to support Etihad’s network expansion. The airline added new routes to Osaka, Copenhagen and Dusseldorf in quarter four of 2023, as well as Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram in the Kerala region of India on New Year’s Day.Etihad has also expanded across multiple markets with additional flight frequencies and improved connectivity across the network.Boeing’s 787 Dreamliners are up to 25% more fuel efficient than many comparable aircraft of their size. In total, Etihad now operates 43 Dreamliners and a total fleet of 88 aircraft including the Airbus A380, A350, A320 family, and Boeing 777. A remarkable flying experienceEtihad’s new 787 Dreamliner cabin interior offers a comfortable and spacious cabin environment in Etihad’s award-winning signature style. The two-class aircraft features a brand-new cabin interior with 32 Business Suites and 271 seats in Economy.The Business cabin features a unique and customised version of the Elements seat manufactured by Collins and Etihad is the first airline in the world to introduce this seat on the Boeing 787.The Business Suites provide guests with generous levels of space, comfort and privacy. Each seat has direct aisle access and reclines to a fully lie-flat-bed 78” in length boasting a 17.3” 4K TV screen, Bluetooth headphone pairing, wireless charging, and multiple charging ports, as well as plenty of storage.In Economy, the newest 787 offers lighter, and therefore more fuel-efficient, seats than the current fleet, with 217 standard seats and 54 Extra Legroom seats with four inches of additional legroom. As well as providing guests with exceptional comfort, the slimmer profile seats provide an increased feeling of space for every guest.The new 787 Dreamliner offers the latest in-flight entertainment technology from Safran with Rave Ultra 13.3” 4K touch-screen monitors and the option to pair personal phones and tablets to the screen to use as a remote.The aircraft is fitted with a new connectivity solution from Viasat using Ka-band technology which offers high-speed Wi-Fi with streaming capabilities on board as well as Live TV, including news and sport channels.Through Etihad’s Wi-Fly, all Etihad Guest members can enjoy complimentary chat packages, while all guests can choose to purchase a full Surf package with unlimited data for the duration of the flight.

Etihad Airways brings festive cheer to the skies this holiday season

This holiday season, Etihad Airways is spreading seasonal cheer with traditional festive cuisine served at 30,000 feet. From the 23-25 December, Etihad will deliver a festive menu in all cabins on more than 30 routes across the network.The airline expects to serve more than 50,000 Christmas dinners on board over the three-day holiday period. This strategic move signifies the airline's commitment to enhancing safety protocols through cutting-edge technology. This initiative is part of a partnership with Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) to establish joint training programmes, research exploration, and develop AI-powered solutions to support and enhance Etihad’s world-leading safety processes. Etihad’s AI-powered platform collects and analyses data including flight reports, maintenance, and training activities to accelerate and refine existing safety processes. Etihad enhances Scandinavian connectivity in strategic codeshare deal with SAS

The business portfolio is responsible for revenue systems including solutions and innovation, pricing distribution, data analytics, revenue integrity as well as staff travel functions.Al Kaabi’s promotion is a home-grown success story as she joined Etihad in 2014 as part of the airline’s respected graduate trainee programme, following the completion of her bachelor’s in mathematics from the UAE University.Through Etihad’s highly regarded graduate trainee programme, Al Kaabi gained valuable experience in cross-departmental rotations, including Demand and Pricing and Market Manager, before taking on a Head of Revenue Management role.At the age of 33, Al Kaabi is Etihad’s youngest Director, and is also the first female Emirati Director of Revenue, paving the way for further growth of Emirati women in the aviation industry.Al Qubaisi and Al Kaabi’s promotions follow a long history of success stories for UAE nationals at Etihad. In 2021, Dr Nadia Bastaki became the first female Emirati Chief at the airline, now holding the position of Chief People and Corporate Affairs Officer. In 2022, Captain Aisha Al Mansoori, became the first female Emirati to become a Captain in a commercial airline, having joined the airline’s cadet pilot programme in 2007. Fatma Al Mehairi, now Regional General Manager in the UAE, and the first Emirati female to lead the UAE sales team, was also the first female Emirati country manager in Canada in 2016.

Etihad Airways partners with Air France-KLM

Etihad Airways has signed an agreement with Air France-KLM Group to enhance collaboration opportunities across passenger operations, loyalty programmes, talent development, and maintenance.The signing ceremony took place at the Air France-KLM Group’s headquarters in Paris, France in the presence of Angus Clarke, Chief Commercial Officer, Air France-KLM and Arik De, Chief Revenue Officer, Etihad Airways.Through this partnership, and subject to any necessary regulatory approvals, Air France-KLM and Etihad Airways will contemplate expanding their codeshare and interline agreements initiated in 2012. As a first step, more than 40 new routes, covering destinations across Europe, the Middle East, Asia Pacific and Australia, have been made available to book for travel as early as the winter 2023 season.The agreement also proposes the ability for frequent flyers of both Flying Blue and Etihad Guest to earn and redeem miles with Air France, KLM and Etihad Airways. Treble winners Manchester City fly home on Etihad Airways’ city branded livery

Abu Dhabi: Etihad Airways, the UAE’s national airline, today flew the victorious Manchester City team home on a unique Club-liveried Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. The charter flight followed their historic Saturday night win in Istanbul and is the first time a European champion team has flown home on their own branded aircraft.Etihad’s specially branded Dreamliner, registered A6-BND, flew the team from Istanbul to Manchester Airport on Sunday 11 June. The aircraft design honours the airline’s prestigious 14-year partnership with the Club and features Manchester City’s hallmark blue colour and club branding.Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive Officer, Etihad Airways, said: “A first in the Club’s history, last night’s win is an outstanding achievement for our long-standing partners Manchester City.
