IPG Mediabrands appoints Matt Ware as CEO for Japan

IPG Mediabrands has announced Matt Ware as the new CEO for its Japan operations. This is a strategic move to fortify its presence in Japan's dynamic advertising landscape. 

This development follows the departure of Koichi Sonoda, who served as CEO for the past five years.

Bringing a wealth of digital marketing expertise garnered over 15 years, including extensive experience within the Asia-Pacific region, Ware's appointment signals IPG Mediabrands' commitment to optimizing media investments for tangible business outcomes. Previously serving as the APAC CEO of KINESSO, IPG Mediabrands' tech-driven performance agency, Ware led over 1000 digital experts across 11 markets, focusing on digital media, marketing automation, advanced analytics, commerce, and AI.

Leigh Terry, CEO of IPG Mediabrands, expressed confidence in Ware's ability to drive the company's positioning forward in the Japanese market, citing his profound digital expertise and local market insights as key assets.

In response to his appointment, Ware expressed enthusiasm for returning to Japan, emphasizing its innovative landscape and vibrant tech scene. Effective immediately, Ware assumes leadership in Tokyo, reporting directly to Leigh Terry, CEO of IPG Mediabrands Asia-Pacific.
