Aruba launches networking industry’s first enterprise cloud-instance in UAE

Aruba, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise company, today announced the much awaited launch of the company’s Enterprise Cloud instance in UAE. The new deployment is in response to the increasing appetite of enterprises in the country for cloud-based networking that provides resilience, efficiency, automation and flexibility of business. The Cloud instance will provide in-country data residency and enable local enterprises to maintain proximity to their data. Zeeshan Hadi, country manager, UAE at Aruba provides insight on the launch saying, “We have witnessed an acceleration in the demand for cloud services in the UAE, as organizations seek to modernize and transform their IT infrastructures and architectures in order to support a hybrid workforce. According to a report by Ken Research, the UAE Cloud services market is set to grow at a CAGR of 16.9% in terms of revenue generation, over the period 2021-2026. However, one of the key barriers to cloud adoption has been around data residency, and concerns over data that is stored in a cloud hosted outside the borders of a country, especially when it relates to customers operating in regulated industries like government, healthcare and financial services. The launch of our UAE Cloud instance is a momentous achievement and will go a long way in allaying these concerns. This signals another landmark in our ongoing pursuit to better serve our customers and partners in the UAE.”The launch comes on the back of the UAE government’s Federal Personal Data Protection (PDP) Law introduced early this year that places new regulations around the processing of personal data for individuals in the UAE. Besides the issue of data privacy, having cloud services hosted close to UAE customers translates to better and faster network and application performance, ultra-low latency, and thereby the best user experience. The company’s flagship Aruba Central platform that provides AI-powered, cloud-managed networking for branch, campus, remote, and data center networks will be hosted on the local Cloud instance. As the management and orchestration console for Aruba ESP (Edge Services Platform), Aruba Central provides a single point of control to oversee every aspect of wired and wireless LANs, WANs, and VPNs across campus, branch, remote, and data center locations. AI-powered analytics, end-to-end orchestration and automation, and advanced security features are built natively into the solution. Live upgrades, robust reporting, and live chat support are also included, bringing more efficiency to day-to-day maintenance activities. Built on a cloud-native, microservices architecture, Aruba Central delivers on enterprise requirements for scale and resiliency, and is also driven by intuitive workflows and dashboards that make it a perfect fit for SMBs with limited IT personnel. The solution is also integrated with HPE GreenLake, providing a consistent operating model and single platform for IT executives to view and manage their compute, storage, and networking infrastructure for unmatched efficiency and improved cost controls. Recently the company has added Client Insights to the Aruba Central Foundation License, providing customers with a service for detecting and provisioning devices at no additional cost. The platform has also been bolstered with four new AI features that tap into Aruba’s massive data lake to give more actionable networking and security information to partners and IT administrators. “We are excited about today’s announcement, enabling our customers to consume Aruba Central in region, and providing an easier way to extend their network from edge-to-cloud – all enabled by a seamless, unified wired, wireless, and SD-Branch infrastructure. Leveraging Cloud technologies enables us to deliver solutions that use Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning at scale, resulting in what we call Aruba Self-healing AIOps. The benefit for customers is that problems are automatically surfaced and fixed before end users or business performance are impacted, without requiring any manual effort on behalf of IT operators,” concludes Lars Koelendorf, Vice President, Solutions & Enablement, EMEA at Aruba.

This has reinforced its mission to enhance its strategic goals and contribute to strengthening Dubai’s position as a global trade hub.”“These unprecedented results align with the national economic performance, which recorded qualitative leaps recently following the strong growth of Dubai’s non-oil trade. This has become a new base for further progress this year and in the future. Dubai has adopted various initiatives and undertaken development programmes in its commercial sectors, including a digital services system, developing its logistics infrastructure, and attracting national and international competencies. These initiatives have successfully implemented operational systems that meet the highest speed, efficiency, and competitiveness,” Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed added. The exceptional financial results stem from DAFZ’s strategic initiatives and incentives to support and facilitate its community of multinational and small-to-medium businesses, enabling an investment environment and ensuring seamless trade activity.DAFZ contributed 10.7 percent to Dubai’s non-oil trade in 2021, exceeding expectations across all sectors. The free zone also recorded a trade surplus of AED9.3 billion. This growth was fuelled by the massive 48 percent year-on-year increase in imports, exceeding even the record levels achieved in 2019 and resulting in a quadrupling of exports, reaching AED1.4 billion in 2021.Dr. Mohammed Al Zarooni, Executive Chairman of DIEZ, said, “These exceptional results highlight the success and effectiveness of the strategic plans developed by Dubai to enhance the growth of the non-oil trade sector and develop its operations by following a new and comprehensive organisational structure. This year serves as a new roadmap toward achieving the strategic goals of the Emirate’s non-oil trade sector and becoming a global hub for international trade. This is evident by the overall growth of imports to the Emirate and the enabling partnerships and attraction of new global companies that have chosen Dubai as the base for their global operations,” Al Zarooni added. These results reflect DAFZ’s prominent role in realising the strategic vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to promote the national economy and the investment environment of Dubai. In 2021, DAFZ achieved exceptional growth that contributed to surpluses in various sectors, particularly in the ‘machinery, equipment, and appliances’ and ‘precious stones, metals and jewellery’ sectors. These two sectors achieved growth between 36 percent and 46 percent and made up an average of 94 percent of DAFZ’s overall trade.Machinery, equipment, and appliances were the main contributor to DAFZ’s trade in 2021, making up 74.6 percent of exports with a value of AED63.9 billion, and 77.1 percent of imports with a value of AED58.9 billion. Precious stones, metals, and jewellery made up 19.3 percent of exports with a value of AED16.5 billion, and 16.7 percent of imports with a value of AED12.7 billion. In terms of DAFZ’s trading partners, Asia accounted for 43 percent of DAFZ’s total trade with a value of AED69.5 billion, followed by the Middle East and North Africa with 37 percent and a value of AED60.7 billion, and Europe with 13 percent and a value of AED21.6 billion.DAFZ launched a series of economic stimulus packages to support international companies and SMEs during the pandemic to overcome the economic challenges that affected most business sectors. This was in line with Dubai’s strategic vision to offer companies and businesses effective packages and incentives to provide flexibility in their operations and help them tackle the challenges posed by the pandemic.

The latest Spotify report examines how UAE’s Gen Zs are shaping culture

The UAE version of Spotify’s yearly report on worldwide trends in culture, Culture Next, has been made available by Spotify. The second time the UAE has been featured in the report’s fourth edition, Generation Z, Spotify’s largest audience section is examined in more detail, along with how they differ from Generation Y, also known as the millennial generation (26 to 40).According to the report, Gen Zs streamed music globally more in 2021 than they did any other form of media (including videos, games, and television), shared greater number of Spotify playlists, and participated in more group listening sessions.Young people aged 18 to 24 played more music on Spotify in the first quarter of 2022 than any other demographic and almost 16 billion more minutes than millennials, or people aged 25 to 34, globally. The head of music for Spotify in the Middle East and North Africa, Mark Abou Jaoude, said that audio has always been a part of our lives.“Streaming is increasingly being recognised as a major force behind discovery and the emergence of a worldwide community that connects through audio. It’s a form of screenless self-expression,” he said.Short-form videos like those on TikTok and Instagram’s Reels have helped increase the appeal of video as a genre recently. But Jaoude emphasises the value of audio, especially for Gen Zers. He said: “For instance, a video without audio is difficult to understand, but an audio-only piece is not. He argued that audio enhances storytelling.”According to the survey, Gen Z has transitioned from being a “emerging” generation to taking centre stage in society, which underlines important disparities between them and millennials.First of all, while both groups experience stress, Gen Zs do it more. Jaoude remarked: “Millennials were reared in a boom, while Generation Z was in a recession. They went through serious downturns related to the 2008 recession and later COVID-19, which they primarily went through as adults.”They are turning to audio in this setting as a refuge. 59 percent of UAE youth aged 18 to 24 informed about using podcasts to find solutions to personal or difficult problems before approaching their families, and according to 66 percent, they use podcasts to prepare for interactions with peers.Additionally, 68 percent of Gen Zers in the UAE claimed that audio helps them better understand themselves, and 80 percent said that it allows them to explore different facets of their personalities. All of this indicates that audio has always been a part of Gen Zs’ life, and they use it for a variety of purposes, including creativity and self-expression as well as identifying characteristics of their own personalitiesAccording to Jaoude, the second characteristic that distinguishes Gen Z from other generations is that they are “the most culturally and radically diverse generation, demanding this diversity be reflected through their lifestyle, the brands they engage with, the audio and social media they consume.”The primary values of this age are self-expression and creativity, hence they turn to artists, music, podcasts, For example, 82 percent of people in the United Arab Emirates stated they had discovered something about themselves by reflecting on their listening patterns, and 74 percent think that their listening patterns reveal something about who they are.
